A new clinic for noninvasive brain modulation for the treatment of chronic pain is currently being launched at Institute of Pain Medicine in Tel Aviv Medical Center in Israel. The first in the country and one of only several worldwide, the new clinic applies cutting-edge noninvasive technologies that can induce changes in brain function in treating patients with chronic, debilitating, and often treatment-resistant chronic pain. Treatments include patient-specific protocols of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), direct Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) and EEG/fMRI neurofeedback or a combination of which.
While still a novel and rapidly evolving practice, these technologies have shown much promise in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders, including chronic pain.
The new clinical service is a joint venture of the Institute of Pain Medicine and the Center for Brain Functions at the Tel Aviv Medical Center.
